As a masterpiece of Guerlain skincare, Orchidée Impériale Black The Cream has been reinvented thanks to an exclusive collaboration with contemporary artist Li Hongbo. Inspired by nature and ancestral Chinese art, the contemporary artist has drawn a Black Orchid¹ down to the tiniest details as adornment for The Cream. Based on the artist’s sketches, Maison Bernardaud reproduced the design in 24-carat gold on the black porcelain jar, creating a true objet d’art.

At its heart is encapsulated the power of the Black Orchid¹. Originally from Peru, the Black Orchid adapts to its environment to maximize its survival, embodying a talisman against time. It has given rise to the BlackImmune™ technology which targets 95% of epidermal cells involved in the skin’s self-defense².

It has the rare distinction of flowering only two weeks a year, and – even more remarkably – bearing male and female flowers on the same plants. An invaluable quality that allows it – through an in-depth understanding of its environment – to adapt its metabolism by establishing an ongoing symbiosis with its ecosystem. In the face of dangers, excess sun or a lack of light, for example, it responds by producing more male flowers, thus encouraging the fertilisation of female flowers and, as a result, more fruit. A JAR ADORNED BY LI HONGBO, CRAFTED BY MAISON BERNARDAUD

For this artistic edition, Guerlain reached out to talented contemporary artist Li Hongbo and the luxury artisanat of Maison Bernardaud.

Inspired by the resilience of the Black Orchid¹, Li Hongbo imagined this spray of orchids apposed in 24-carat gold leaf by artisans from Maison Bernardaud.

Established in Limoges since 1863, maison Bernardaud is a prestigious family business, embodying excellence in French porcelain for over 150 years. Unique and reusable, the jars are all hand-crafted by a team of 50 artisans.

A GESTURE BASED ON GUERLAIN SPA EXPERTISE

Step 1: roll the applicator horizontally from one side of your face to the other.
Step 2: roll the applicator from the centre of your face out towards your ears, then from your eyebrows up to your hairline.
Step 3: work backwards and forwards over the areas most affected.
Step 4: gently pat the skin with the applicator starting with your eye contours. Move to the contour of your lips and then face.
