Since its beginnings, the House of Guerlain has developed an avant-garde repertoire. Its inventions include the first refillable lipstick, Ne m'oubliez pas (1870), the first lip liner, Bâton Lys (1909), and the first sun powder, Terracotta (1984).

Guerlain creates the ultimate luxury accessories and has made collaborating with renowned designers a tradition. For example, the three superimposed “ice cubes” of KissKiss in 2005 and the compact foundation Parure in 2007, both designed by Hervé Van der Straeten, are truly precious jewel cases. In 2009, Lorenz Baümer made Rouge G a covetable contemporary accessory with a double mirror.

Behind each creation are marvellous manufacturing secrets handed down from generation to generation. Only five craftspeople in the world know how to create Météorites, a true artisanal craft. Mixed in the heart of a machine inspired by “dragée” candy-making machines, the loose powders are sprinkled with water and guided by the artisan's hand until they form pearls. After drying, those with a perfect size and roundness are the only ones worthy of a place in Guerlain's jewellery boxes.

In 1870, Aimé Guerlain created the revolutionary ''Ne m'oubliez pas'', the very first lipstick in stick form, an avant-garde object with a refillable case. A new gesture that ever since has been performed daily by women around the world. 

Guerlain launched Rouge G and made red part of its vocabulary. In 2009, it was revisited by Lorenz Bäumer, a jeweller from the Place Vendôme, who made it into a jewel with a mirror-like case. Since 2018, it has become the first lipstick that can be personalised as desired!

Guerlain invents the mythical Terracotta powder. Literally “Terracotta”, it was created as a journey to the heart of the desert and establishes an unprecedented link between the earth and the sun, of which it captures all the reflections: from the earth to the skin, naturally.
