01 THE ALLIANCE OF LUXURY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Since it first adorned the iconic Bee Bottle, the Bee, symbol of Guerlain’s commitment, has continued to be a source of creative inspiration for the House. This 170th anniversary of the Bee Bottle, created in 1853, is being celebrated in the most sublime of ways. Guerlain has called on the talents of the artist Céline Cléron to design a singular and unique creation, revealing an ethereal majestic garden blossoming around the Bee Bottle like a lyrical celebration of nature. Crafted in biscuit porcelain highlighted with gold, this remarkable piece of art anchors Guerlain’s philosophy of contributing to the longevity and the protection of biodiversity in material substance.

02 CéLINE CLéRON, ART AND NATURE

A multidisciplinary visual artist, Céline Cléron bases her artistic approach on the object, putting a fresh spin on its meaning or function to give it a new dimension. Proceeding by shifting, combination and hybridisation, she uses familiar objects or images that serve as the impulse to begin a process of transformation. The living world also often comes into play in her creative process, with animals taking on an active role in the work. Céline Cléron’s sensitive world and the connection that she fosters with nature were the starting point for the collaboration with Guerlain.

03 THE BOTTLE, A MAGNIFICENT ODE

The artist has created an extraordinary radiant garden in biscuit porcelain and gilded by hand. Each almost naturalistic flower has been crafted using the sprigging technique – each petal is modelled by hand and then they are fixed together. The artist has then attached, on graceful 24-carat gold stems, flowers and pollinators, bees and butterflies.

04 A SHARED PHILOSOPHY OF LONGETIVITY

This piece that will last longer than a lifetime echoes Guerlain’s commitment to contribute to greater sustainability. It expresses in the most delicate of ways the protection of this precious pollinator, the bee, and highlights the value of long time and human handiwork, of which the Bee Bottle is the most vibrant expression. The creation of the perfume is just as committed as the creation of the adornment. For the first time in its history, the House of Guerlain is revealing a bold, avant-garde, and entirely upcycled fragrance.

“I wanted to imagine a unique piece and transpose onto the bottle my world related to the bee and my connection with nature to create a garden of flowers and insects that would emanate from the perfume itself.”
Céline Cléron

05AN EXCEPTIONAL PERFUME

The perfume chosen to accompany this artistic edition is as unique as its container. This extraordinary project began with the meeting between Guerlain and OASHE, winners of the Sustainable Beauty Challenge sponsored by Cosmetic Valley and LVMH. The start-up was awarded the prize for its proposals to repurpose Guerlain fragrances set to be withdrawn. The House’s Master Perfumer, Thierry Wasser, reused, in their entirety, several of these Guerlain fragrances to compose a new fragrance. Christened Bee Garden de Guerlain, the Eau de Parfum opens with an exhilarating rhubarb accord enfolded in a luminous neroli, a sun-kissed bouquet paired with a powerful cedar and black tea accord which gives the perfume structure and intensity.
