An extraordinary, explosive interpretation of the iris
In an olfactory nod to a Guerlain lipstick stain left on the rim of a coffee cup, Guerlain Perfumer Delphine Jelk made the daring choice to send a powdery-floral heart hurtling towards coffee notes as vibrant as a full-bodied espresso.
At the base, sandalwood, opopanine—a Guerlain signature ambery accord—and vanilla tincture are draped exquisitely around this olfactory tension.
The fragrance artist’s touch
"If it were a place, a literary café on the Parisian Left Bank."
Evoking that Parisian elegance so dear to Guerlain, Iris Torréfié is an olfactory deep dive into the legendary literary cafés of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Places like Le Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots remain the favourite haunts of artists in the French capital.
Iris Pallida
A truly precious material, the iris has earned its nickname of “perfumer’s blue gold”. It is not the iris flower that gives us the scent, but its rhizomes, which require three years of growth, followed by a further three years of drying to reveal all their olfactory potential. They are then distilled in order to obtain the iris butter.
At the heart of Iris Torréfié, the Turkish-grown iris Pallida reveals its refined, multifaceted fragrance with powdery, woody and violet accents.
At Guerlain, iris is a core ingredient of the Guerlinade. Lasting through the eras, this flower shows itself in the House’s most legendary compositions.
