02 THE JEWELLED BEETLE, ABSOLUTE LUCKY CHARM
This Métier d’Art edition is the result of a shared inspiration drawn from the perfect beauty of nature and the sublimation of bestiary. This masterful piece marks the encounter between the iconic symbol of Guerlain, the Imperial Bee, which has adorned the Bee bottle since 1853, and the beetle, Begüm Khan's favourite animal, considered as an absolute lucky charm. Surrounded by a myriad of dazzling crystals, the fabulous insect landed majestically on the one-liter Bee Bottle to make it shine.
03 THE DREAM WORLD OF BEGÜM KHAN
Begüm Kiroglu, jewellery designer, grew up in a family of Ottoman art collectors. Highly inspired by the Orient and the treasures of Istanbul, she created her own jewellery brand in 2012, at the crossroads of art, design and fashion. Begüm Khan’s design pieces bring to life her bestiary filled with real and imaginary animals that she chooses for their appearance and their symbolism. She mainly works with stones or crystals on a bronze or gold mount using a pavé setting technique in her ateliers in Istanbul. This Métier d’Art edition is the result of a shared inspiration drawn from the perfect beauty of nature and the sublimation of bestiary.
04 HIGH-PRECISION CRAFTSMANSHIP
Begüm Khan has created an item of jewellery in 24-carat gold-plated bronze, pavé set with 440 gems positioned one by one. Begüm Khan has completed a thousand-year-old tradition of Ottoman craftsmanship with new technologies and innovations, particularly with artificial stones making it possible to maintain a perfect colour harmony. Each adornment is hand-crafted in the artist’s Istanbul ateliers and takes many hours to produce. Delicate high-precision craftsmanship that gives each piece its own character and soul.
