GUERLAIN’S CREATORS
By perpetuating the bold vision of the founder, Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain, today's creators continue to make Guerlain creations works of High Perfumery and High Cosmetics. With the pursuit of the beautiful and the extraordinary at the core.
FRAGRANCE CREATION
A duo of creators-noses share the reins of Guerlain perfume: Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk.
THIERRY WASSER
Appointed Guerlain Master Perfumer in 2008 and awarded the Légion d'Honneur in 2014, Thierry Wasser travels the world in search of extraordinary natural raw materials. He designs the House's exceptional lines, which respect both humanity and Nature. In particular, he created the Absolus d'Orient and the powerful opuses of the L’Art & La Matière collection. Today, he is the representative of bespoke creation.
DELPHINE JELK
Delphine Jelk joined the House in 2014. Her round and warm, generous and inviting compositions are defined by oppositions and tensions. Iris, musks and powdery, vanilla, almond and milky notes are her favourite materials. Juggling between heritage and modernity, Delphine has created numerous creations for L’Art & La Matière and Aqua Allegoria. In 2021, she became a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature).
SKINCARE CREATION

MAKEUP CREATION
VIOLETTE
At the head of makeup creation since 2021, Violette brings an infinitely chic, feminine, affirmed and more than ever Parisian chapter to the House. She resolutely embodies Guerlain values, driven by a total love of Nature and Art, and passionately committed. Her vision of the Guerlain woman? “A modern empress, Parisian to the core.”
TRANSMISSION SIGNED GUERLAIN,
SINCE 1828
Preceding today's designers, the House was marked by a four-generation family line. It is committed to passing on entrepreneurial audacity, visionary genius and alchemical gifts to ensure the solidity and longevity of the name.
THE FOUNDER: PIERRE-FRANÇOIS-PASCAL GUERLAIN
Born in 1798, Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain became a perfumer-chemist. In 1828, he opened his first boutique on rue de Rivoli in Paris. His crowning achievement was the Eau de Cologne Impériale, which he dedicated to Empress Eugénie in 1853. But his knowledge and imagination also found expression in sophisticated cosmetic products, which drew their source from the heart of Nature: Blancs de Perles, Crème à la Graisse d’Ours Liquéfiée and Crème à la Fraise pour le Teint created for Empress Sissi. Poudre de Lys and Extrait de Roses set the foundations of the House's Art of makeup.
THE MODERN: AIMÉ GUERLAIN
Aimé Guerlain is the father of modern perfumery. From 1864, under his impetus, Guerlain distinguished itself by the absolute luxury of its compositions. In 1889, he launched Jicky, avant-garde in its use of synthesis and complexity.
A genius of perfumery, he made his marked with great creations in cosmetics, including “Ne m'oubliez pas” in 1870, the first refillable lipstick: a new gesture now universal.
THE ARTIST: JACQUES GUERLAIN
Jacques, Aimé's nephew, is responsible for Guerlinade, the House's signature fragrance since 1921. A prolific creator, he created L'Heure Bleue in 1912, Mitsouko in 1919, and above all Shalimar in 1925, the first amber perfume. He also created in 1904, Secret de Bonne Femme: the first product to boast total hydration, marketed for nearly a century!
THE LOVER OF LOVE: JEAN-PAUL GUERLAIN
An exceptional nose and a free spirit, Jean-Paul Guerlain dreamt of women through perfume. Chamade in 1969, Nahéma in 1979, and above all Samsara in 1989, with which “woman is reborn in Guerlain”. He also thought of men, in 1959, with Vétiver and in 1965, with Habit Rouge. As a precursor, in 1999 he signed the first collection of perfumes: Aqua Allegoria.
