Après l'Ondée opens with aniseed notes displaying their many shades and nuances. It then blossoms into a bouquet of powdery flowers spiced with iris and violet accord and vanilla notes. Scents which evoke a walk in the dewy undergrowth.

CARNATION ACCORD

The carnation is a “mute” flower so does not reveal its fragrance faithfully through traditional distillation or extraction techniques.
Each perfumer therefore interprets carnation’s fragrance according to their own sense of creativity.
Guerlain's carnation accord combines notes of rose and spice.

IRIS

A precious material, the iris deserves its nickname as the "blue gold" of perfumery, exhaling a refined, faceted fragrance with powdery, woody accents.
At Guerlain, iris is a key ingredient of “Guerlinade”. Across time periods, this flower has made its mark on some of the House's most legendary compositions.

VANILLA

As a signature ingredient used by the Guerlain Maison, vanilla forms an essential part of “Guerlinade”. As such Guerlain perfumers have relentlessly sought out the most beautiful vanilla varieties.
Vanilla brings a gourmand, sensual note to perfume.

HOUSE SECRETS

Guerlain creations each have their own story and sometimes strong similarities. This is the case of Après l'Ondée and L'Heure Bleue, two countryside fragrances inspired by the beauty of a moment and a photograph of nature. Created six years earlier, Après l'Ondée has a more watercolour and pastel aspect than L'Heure Bleue.

A LEGENDARY BOTTLE

Designed by Raymond Guerlain in 1912, its iconic “inverted heart” bottle is underscored with graceful scrolls typical of Art Nouveau. Its avant-garde stopper, in the form of a hollowed heart, evokes the delicate romanticism of this perfumery masterpiece and represented a real technical feat at the time.
